Brief

Hypodermic needles are hollow needles that are commonly used with syringes to inject or extract fluid from or into the body.

They are used to take liquid samples from the body, for example taking blood from a vein in venipuncture. It also delivers fluids quickly.

CHARACTERITICS

Hypodermic needles significantly reduce contamination during inoculation of sterile matrices in two ways.

First, a very smooth surface prevents airborne pathogens from being trapped between the irregularities of the needle surface and may subsequently be transferred to the medium as a contaminant.

Secondly, the very sharp tip significantly reduces the diameter of the hole left after the puncture film, thereby preventing microbes that are larger than the hole from contaminating the skin.
